Kathrine Switzer

Kathrine Switzer changed the Boston Marathon forever. In 1967, she signed up as “K V Switzer” because women weren’t allowed to race. What happened next became iconic: a race official charged the course and tried to rip off her bib. But Kathrine kept running, all the way to the finish. Her defiance lit a spark that helped ignite global change for women in sports. That one race opened the doors for millions more. She went on to found 261 Fearless, empowering women around the world to run with confidence. Kathrine didn’t just finish Boston, she redefined it.

Current Weather

Ann Trason. She's not just fast, she is unstoppable. Ann Trason shattered expectations in the male dominated world of ultrarunning, often beating everyone on the course. She won the grueling Western States 100 an incredible 14 times. In 1995, she ran back to back ultras, completing the brutal 56-mile Comrades Marathon in South Africa, then flying home to win Western States just 12 days later. Ann didn’t chase trophies, she chased what was humanly possible and kept pushing the line further.

Current Weather

Lael Wilcox turned the entire planet into her playground. On May 26, 2024, she rolled out of Chicago with one goal: ride around the world faster than any woman ever had. Mission accomplished. In just 108 days, 12 hours, and 12 minutes, she pedaled 18,125 miles across 22 countries, beating the previous record by nearly 16 days. No support car, no shortcuts, just Lael, a Specialized Roubaix, and a relentless drive. From the Aussie outback to European mountain passes, she averaged 170 miles a day, fueled by grit, kindness from strangers, and the occasional roadside pineapple. She didn’t just chase the horizon, she passed it.

In 2024, he conquered all 82 Alpine peaks over 4,000 meters in just 19 days, on foot and by bike. No engines. No shortcuts. Just pure grit. Kilian isn’t chasing finish lines, he’s making new ones.

Gustav Håkansson, known as “Stålfarfar” or Steel Grandpa, was a Swedish cyclist who proved age means nothing. In 1951, at 66, he was denied entry to the 1,000 mile Sverige loppet for being over 40. He joined anyway on his old bike, wearing a homemade bib with a red zero. Riding without support and barely sleeping, he finished in 6 days, 14 hours, and 20 minutes—a full day ahead of the official racers. He lived to 101 and became a legend.
